Module 1: AVID Overview
1. View this Power Point and AVID video. Take one page of Cornell notes as you view/watch.
2. Watch this video of an AVID graduate speaking at AVID Summer Institute. Take notes on the same page of Cornell notes as before (activity above).
3. Based on your Cornell Notes from the abover Power Point and videos, summarize the GIST of AVID in 20 words.
4. Read the "Top Ten Characteristics of Ideal Tutors" and complete the included Cornell note activity by taking notes on the right hand side of the Cornell note paper (included).
5. Read the "Expectations of the AVID Tutor" and complete the included worksheet.
6. Review the "Ten Steps to the Tutorial Process" and watch this video of an actual AVID tutorial. After watching the video complete the Summarizing Pyramid worksheet.

Overview:
AVID Tutors will learn a brief history of AVID and begin to learn the characteristics of being an AVID tutor within the AVID College Readiness System and the steps of the tutorial process.
