1. After every tutorial session, an AVID tutor should debrief the tutorial process with the AVID Elective teacher. Discuss with your AVID Elective teacher the procedure for debriefing after tutorials. On a page of Cornell notes, record what the procedure is for debriefing at your site.

2. Use the AVID Tutorial Observation Feedback Tool to observe either a student tutor or a college tutor facilitating a tutorial group. Complete the Tutorial Observation Feedback Tool and the reflection at the end of Tool for this activity. If you are unable to observe a live tutorial, watch this one.

3. Watch this video on how to complete a self-assessment on your own tutorial process. (Note: This video is designed for AVID Elective teachers, but you can still use it for information as an AVID tutor.) The self-assessment will allow you to gauge where every member of the tutorial group is at in the tutorial process.

4. Complete the self-assessment after you have had some experience tutoring. (You can review the video above for a refresher). Then, on a page of Cornell notes, use the results from the self-assessment to identify and list 3 goals you have for your focus area of growth during tutorials. You can still pick an area even if it is not a "tutor" focus area because you can influence all areas as a tutor.

5. Now that you have completed your orientation, fill-out your AVID Tutor Agreement.

For this module, you will turn in:

1. Cornell notes on debriefing procedures at your site.

2. Completed Tutorial Observation Feedback Tool and reflection for another tutor at your site.

3. Self-assessment form.

4. Three "focus area goals" on Cornell note paper.

5. AVID Tutor Agreement
